Zebra ET401: The Rugged, AI-Powered Enterprise Tablet Built for the Frontline Worker
Video
The new Zebra ET401 is an enterprise tablet available in both the eight and 10-inch screen sizes.
If your teams are still running the older Zebra tablets, especially the ET40, 45, or the ET51, 56, this is the upgrade that is built to make your frontline work faster, tougher, and be more future-ready.
We’re talking a lot about AI right now, and separating the buzz around AI from the real use cases that drive productivity is essential. The ET401 is a fantastic example of how AI is reshaping what’s possible in mobile devices.
Zebra positions the ET401 as AI-empowered, including an AI-enabled touchscreen designed to improve touch accuracy, flexibility, and response time.
Inside, the ET401 runs a Qualcomm Dragonwing Q6690 processor. Zebra says that it is three generations newer than the processor in the ET40, 45, and cites a 42% performance boost.
The ET401 is thin and light, yet incredibly rugged. It’s got an IP68 rating, completely protected against dust and water, so you could use it in the rain, hose it off, no problem. The ET401 will be available for sale for four years with an additional four years of support, so a total of eight years of service and support, which is pretty incredible for any device.
Connectivity is also a standout upgrade here. Zebra lists Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, NFC, and even 5G on the cellular-enabled models.
It has built-in RFID as an option, no sled required, with short-range UHF RFID up to four feet.
At Stratix, we’re working with a lot of customers right now on RFID in industries like retail, logistics, and healthcare.
We started our business in barcode scanning more than 40 years ago, and RFID is an exponential upgrade. RFID provides continuous automatic visibility into where items are and what their status is without manual scans or line-of-sight requirements.
One of the things we like about the Zebra ET401 is how much smaller and more compact they have gotten without sacrificing any of the rugged nature of their devices.
You still get the replaceable battery, the removable battery, along with a built-in scanner and so many of the other features that have made Zebra what they are up till today, yet it feels so much more of a consumer and comfortable device to hold.
It still maintains its IP68 rating. It still has that built-in camera that is of high quality. It’s not just a camera, it’s actually a really nice camera. So it’s getting to the point where you can no longer tell the difference between this and a high-end consumer device.
