New Stratix Research Shows the Power of Apple Products for Business
Paper
Introduction
For years, enterprise mobility strategies have been shaped by long-standing assumptions about “purpose-built devices” being better suited for the enterprise. Consumer devices have challenged that thinking in a big way—turning the benefits of intuitive, secure, and easy use into an enterprise advantage.
A new survey of business leaders and IT specialists, just completed by Stratix, shows just how strong the connection is for Apple® devices in business use cases. We asked what respondents ‘pre-existing beliefs were and compared that to the information they provided on actual performance, and across the board, we found that respondents’ assumptions are disproved by their experience.
Read to learn more about our findings that with lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), rugged and security performance, Apple devices are not only enterprise-ready—they are enterprise-proven.
1) Apple Mobile Devices Deliver Lower TCO
When companies purchase technology, getting the most value for money is paramount. In our survey of 250 business leaders and IT specialists, TCO was cited as a bigger focus than purchase price.
We asked the question “When pricing mobile technology for business solutions, does your organization focus on the purchase price, or take into account total costs (including support and residual value) over the expected lifespan of the solution?”
Respondents indicated that TCO is more important in their decision by a 10-point margin–Purchase Price 45 percent and TCO 55 percent respectively.
In our research, respondents perceive that iPhone® and iPad® have not only higher purchase prices but also higher TCOs than other devices. In our survey, more than 50 percent perceived iPhone and iPad to have a higher purchase price and a higher TCO than other manufacturers’ phones and tablets.
However, when considering the performance data from respondents, those preconceptions are disproven. Across the board, iPhone and iPad outperform other mobile devices on all TCO drivers, including device lifecycle, residual value, support and maintenance, price consistency, and end-user productivity.
Deciphering the Data
Apple devices actually deliver a lower TCO. From device longevity to residual value, operational efficiency, and employee productivity, Apple devices drive measurable savings.
- Longer Lifespan and Higher Residual Value:
Apple devices retain value far better than comparable alternatives. With Apple Financial Services’ (AFS) guaranteed buyback programs, organizations can recover a meaningful percentage of their investment at the end of each cycle, effectively lowering the total cost of each deployment. - Reduced Support and Maintenance Costs:
Apple’s tightly integrated hardware and software ecosystem minimizes IT overhead. Devices experience fewer performance issues, require fewer repairs, and are easier to manage at scale through zero-touch deployment and leading MDM platforms. - Omni Use:
Apple devices are multipurpose (the same device can be used across workflows and use cases), reducing the total cost vs. single-purpose rugged fleets. - Stable Pricing Amid Market Volatility:
Despite global tariffs and inflationary pressures, Apple’s mobile device lineup held pricing steady while improving performance, battery life, and durability—delivering more value at the same price point. - Improved User Productivity:
Familiarity matters. Most employees already use Apple products personally, reducing training time and support tickets. In customer-facing environments like retail and hospitality, the intuitive design of iPhone and iPad improves speed, accuracy, and user satisfaction. - Procurement Parity:
Stratix + partners (AT&T, Apkudo, AFS, NomadGo, and other ISVs) deliver as-a-service bundles, predictable pricing, and turnkey packages across verticals. - Cost-Neutral Migrations
Stratix bundles (Telecom Expense Management (TEM) savings, asset disposition, next-day replacement) and AFS programs can make upgrades cost-neutral.
Lower Cost and Better UX
Retail use cases are a good example of how Apple devices drive both savings and improved user experience. Retailers using iPad or iPhone for point-of-sale, training, and inventory save thousands per store compared to specialized rugged terminals—while increasing employee satisfaction and flexibility.
The Bottom Line
Apple devices are an efficient choice for the enterprise. When you calculate the real cost over the full device lifecycle, Apple devices deliver premium value without the premium price tag.
2) Apple Devices Are Rugged
Apple devices are sleek, elegant, and designed for everyday use. We asked our respondents how well they handle the demands of enterprise environments like warehouses, hospitals, or field service operations. At Stratix, we know from experience that they handle these environments well, and our survey respondents agree.
On the question of whether Apple devices are durable enough for frontline workers and field operations, the results left no doubt. 88 percent agreed or strongly agreed.
When we break that down to a granular level, with specific questions about Apple device features, our respondents told us that Apple devices consistently either match or outperform rugged devices on a number of factors, from device durability to accessories, OS reliability, and repairs.
Deciphering the Data

3) Apple Devices are Secure
While some IT leaders may worry about limited visibility, insufficient compliance frameworks, or the inability to govern data at scale, the security architecture on Apple devices is among the most advanced and integrated in the industry. Every iPhone, iPad, and Mac® is secure by design—combining hardware-level protection, strong encryption, continuous software validation, and privacy controls that are built into the operating system.
Our survey respondents say they trust Apple’s security safeguards. When asked, “How confident are you in Apple’s native security and privacy features for business use?” 86 percent said somewhat or very confident.
