Position Summary
The Inventory Specialist is responsible for managing and optimizing inventory processes across the full warehouse lifecycle — from receiving through storage, picking, staging, and shipping. This role ensures accurate tracking and visibility of inventory within NetSuite or Oracle ERP, supporting both Stratix-owned and customer-owned inventory.
In addition to daily inventory oversight, this position contributes to operational planning, space utilization strategy, reporting, and special projects that enhance inventory control, cost efficiency, and service performance. Success in this role requires strong analytical capability, operational awareness, and the ability to independently assess inventory trends and business impact.
Responsibilities Include:
Inventory Planning & Control
- Monitor inventory cycles, usage trends, and new business forecasts to effectively plan incoming receipts and warehouse space allocation.
- Optimize inventory placement to maximize space utilization and material handling efficiency.
- Maintain accurate tracking of inventory movement within NetSuite or Oracle ERP throughout the entire lifecycle.
- Perform routine inventory counts and escalate discrepancies that may impact financial or customer reporting.
- Partner directly with receiving, picking, staging, and shipping teams to ensure inventory accuracy and location integrity.
- Monitor inventory levels across both internal and third-party warehouse facilities.
- Coordinate and oversee product transfers and shipments between locations based on current and upcoming projects.
- Coordinate and oversee cross-training initiatives to expand team capabilities and maintain operational continuity.
Inventory Analysis & Reporting
- Generate real-time and recurring inventory and order status reports for internal leadership and customer presentation.
- Analyze inventory levels, storage capacity, transaction history, and movement trends to support operational forecasting.
- Maintain defined inventory metrics and reporting standards to ensure data integrity.
- Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation accuracy and traceability.
Special Project & Continuous Improvement
- Lead or participate in special projects related to inventory optimization, system enhancements, customer transitions, and warehouse expansion initiatives.
- Support implementation of new business launches by planning inventory setup, bin configuration, and ERP alignment.
- Contribute to lean initiatives and 5S programs to improve workflow efficiency and reduce waste.
- Identify root causes of recurring inventory discrepancies and implement corrective process improvements.
- Assist leadership in developing strategies for inventory handling cost reduction and operational scalability.
Asset & Obsolescence Management
- Oversee disposal processes for defective, surplus, and obsolete equipment in accordance with company policy and customer requirements.
- Ensure proper financial documentation and reporting related to asset disposition activities.
- Analyze aging inventory and recommend action plans to reduce excess or obsolete stock.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Collaborate with Warehouse Operations, Order Administration, Accounting, Project Management, Engineering, Account Management, IT, and leadership teams to ensure inventory alignment with business objectives.
- Communicate effectively with vendors, partners, and customers regarding inventory reporting and reconciliation.
- Support receiving and shipping resources as needed.
Performance Expectations
- Maintain inventory accuracy at or above company benchmarks (≥ 99% where applicable).
- Ensure timely resolution of discrepancies, typically within 24–48 hours.
- Deliver accurate, actionable reporting that supports operational and financial decision-making.
- Successfully support or lead assigned special projects within defined timelines.
- Identify and implement measurable process improvements annually.
- Maintain strong ERP data integrity and audit readiness.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in inventory management or warehouse operations.
- Experience working within NetSuite and Oracle ERP inventory modules required.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and reporting tools); working knowledge of Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience managing projects from planning through implementation.
- Ability to independently assess operational and financial impact and provide real-time solutions.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing and walking approximately 50% of the time; sitting approximately 50%.
- Ability to lift to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Routine use of keyboard and handheld scanning devices.
- Visual acuity required for inventory inspection and system work.
